The future of web design is always an interesting topic to think about. What will the internet look like in 5 or 10 years? What new technologies will be available? In this blog post, we will take a look at 5 web design trends that we believe will be popular in 2022. Keep in mind that these are just predictions – nothing is set in stone! But if you want your website to stay ahead of the curve, it’s important to start planning for these trends now.
Here are the five web design trends we believe will be popular in 2022:
01. Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR)
It’s no secret that VR and AR are becoming more and more popular every day. In fact, it’s estimated that by 2020, there will be over 200 million active VR users worldwide. So what does this mean for web designers? It means that you need to start preparing for VR and AR now! If you want your website to be compatible with these technologies, you need to make sure that it is designed with virtual and augmented reality in mind. This could include adding 360-degree videos or incorporating interactive elements into your designs.
02. Responsible motion design
Responsible motion design is an essential part of UX now. The hierarchy of visual information is changing, and designers have started to think more carefully about the way they use movement in digital interfaces. Motion design can be used to help users retain memory for what they’ve just seen or it can become a focal point that distracts them from taking away anything useful at all.
As you see above, motion design allows users to create stronger memories of websites. This is important because they are moving fast towards artificial intelligence technology with lots of features behind the curtain. You may not even notice these changes since they are happening gradually but there’s no doubt about the fact that things are quickly evolving around us!
03. Art deco motifs
This resurgence, first noticed by Art Deco Society members attending annual conferences around the country, is said to attract up to 10 percent of the world’s leading ad agencies, movie studios, and entertainment conglomerates. The signature style includes geometric shapes, bright colors, and bold black-and-white graphics.
Just as art deco has influenced architecture and interior design, so too will it influence web design. Its use of geometry will lead to an increase in sharp corners for site headers, footers, and other navigational elements. Color usage will be inspired by modern hues like pink or purple that are associated with early 20th-century fashion trends. And large graphics containing detailed line work will give sites a vibrant look that continues to set apart today’s best web design.
04. One-page websites
One-page websites are the biggest trend of the last year or so, and they’re likely to remain strong into 2022. “Changing technology will also help push this design element forward,” says Alex Roesler, director of the user experience at The Cline Group. He says that many companies are using a CMS for their websites that is not just a database of content but a complete platform for business applications.
“As these platforms advance and become more robust, we’ll continue to see more full-length one-page sites,” he adds, “with tons of functionality.” Plus, there’s no shortage of apps you can use to create single-page layouts in minutes rather than months—so if you do want to take an existing two-column page and convert it, it’s a lot easier to do.
05. Abstract illustrations
The need to simplify and bring focused attention to a single message will be the reason why we will see an increased use of abstract illustrations. These images work like metaphors, giving audiences explicit information without saying too much.
They can also represent emotions such as happiness or sadness, which allows companies to give their audience the necessary cues to trigger them emotionally.
Illustrations can play different roles in digital marketing campaigns: they help people easily understand what you are trying to say and whether your product/service fits their lifestyle; it helps create a story around your brand and invites consumers into that world; it tells about your values and beliefs; gives us another important element that we could put on our websites (icons/logos); and, lastly, it adds a lot more creativity to our work.
That’s it! You now have a great insight on what are the major web design trends in the year 2022. As mentioned earlier, this list will continue to grow as time goes by so you might want to bookmark this page for future reference. But before you go, do drop us your favorite quote or opinion on whether you think these are real threats that should be taken seriously or just plain ridiculous predictions of web design. Remember that there is no right and wrong answer here but it’ll be fun getting to know your views about this article. See ya around!
